However, this year marks a special milestone, as the Andalusian company has decided to turn its attention towards its homeland.
Antonio Venegas, commercial director of Surtruck Road Cleaning, shared the news: «Last year we offset our emissions with a reforestation project in Galicia. However, as an Andalusian company, we wanted our actions to have an impact closer to home. Therefore, we set ourselves the challenge of finding an initiative in our own land, and we are happy to announce that we have achieved it.
Local compensation project
The project selected for this year is located at Finca El Vinagre, in the province of Huelva.
This initiative, managed by Ibereucaliptos, arose after a devastating fire that devastated 250 hectares of land three years ago.
The reforestation of the area with eucalyptus and native species contributes to the recovery of the landscape and a positive impact on the local environment.
María José Montes Vega, Sustainability and Climate Change consultant at Ecoterrae, the company in charge of processing Surtruck's carbon footprint, explained: "Along with the initiative in Andalusia, Surtruck has also offset 46 tons of CO2 in an international project in Hazira , India.
“This contribution will support the construction of a combined cycle power plant based on natural gas, thus promoting cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.”
Surtruck's decision to offset its carbon emissions both locally and internationally demonstrates its commitment to both its community and the global environment.
