This Thursday, at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Seville, we held our event “Inspiring Companies: Success stories of sustainability in companies”, a day that brought together nearly 100 executives and sustainability managers from companies from various sectors. The main objective of the meeting was to analyze the challenges and opportunities in the process of decarbonization and adaptation to sustainability regulations, two key issues for organizations seeking to move towards a more sustainable future.

The day began with welcoming remarks from our CEO, Daniel Garcia Lazaro, who highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into all areas of a company, highlighting its transversal and essential nature for both economic and environmental success. Throughout the day, several round tables were held that allowed companies to share their experiences and strategies around sustainability.

Towards decarbonization

One of the most prominent topics was decarbonisation. The speakers at this panel, moderated by Patricia Gomez Rios, our Manager of the sustainability indexes and certificates line, stressed that, although it represents a great challenge, decarbonisation is also an opportunity to improve corporate reputation, reduce costs and access new markets. We count on the valuable participation of Alejandra Macho (Responsable de Huella Medioambiental of Cosentino), Ana Fernandez (Director of Safety and Environment of Rovi), and Mariana Gasca (Sustainability Manager of Mediterranean), who shared how their organizations are approaching this process, emphasizing the importance of educating internal teams and efficiently managing energy and waste.

New regulations on sustainability

Another central theme was the new CSRD regulations (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive). During this panel, moderated by Cecilia Romero Alvarez, our ESG Manager, the speakers agreed that the new regulations will bring more transparency in sustainability reports, and at the same time, it will be a great opportunity to improve the internal policies of companies. Alejandro Sanchez (Director of Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability at Sando), Carmen Palanco (EMEA Sustainability Specialist at Hortifruit), and Aecio Dantas (Sustainability Manager at Whistle) offered valuable insights into how CSRD can streamline processes and drive greater efficiency within organizations.

Net Zero Commitment

The commitment to the aim Net Zero was also one of the big topics of the day. Los expertos, Natalia Iglesias (Sustainability Director of DFGROUP), Joaquin Duran (Corporate Environment Coordinator of Navantia), and Natalia Solana (Investment Manager of Repsol Social Impact of the Repsol Foundation), agreed on the need for clear roadmaps, energy audit tools and mixed strategies for calculating and reducing the carbon footprint.

The event concluded with a final reflection by Abilio Caetano and Javier Postigo, who summarized the main conclusions of the day. In their words, they highlighted the positive impact that carbon footprint management has on both the environment and the efficiency of companies. In addition, the fundamental role of mechanisms such as the CBAM and the Green Taxonomy to redirect capital towards companies committed to sustainability.

With this event, in Ecoterrae We reaffirm our commitment to promoting sustainability and decarbonisation in the business world. Collaboration and innovation are key to addressing today's sustainability challenges, and this meeting has been another step in our effort to support companies on their path towards a more sustainable future.
